We have three levels of local government in Somerset.

• Parish, which looks after a village or a collection of villages or settlements.
• District, which contains a collection of Wards (collections of Parishes).
• County, which contains a collection of Districts. (simple, eh?!)

Mendip is part of the county of Somerset which is governed by Somerset County Council (SCC). Cllr. Graham Noel is our County Councillor

Moor ward looks after two Parish Councils, Meare Parish Council and Walton Parish Council, and is comprised of four settlements, Walton, Meare, Sharpham, and Westhay.
